DNA® Filters Ltd. was founded in 2002 by Dinos Nikolaidis (CEO) and Maria Ralli (CFO), two individuals with a strong and successful background in the motorcycle industry. Their story begins in 1985 when the young technician Dinos Nikolaidis turned his passion for motorcycles into a profession by founding the renowned TecnoMoto Racing company in Greece. Between 1985 and 2002, valuable experience was gained through countless hours of dynamometer testing and trials of thousands of performance parts.
The knowledge and experience acquired played a crucial role in maturing the ambitious idea of Dinos Nikolaidis to establish the first and only Greek company manufacturing performance products for motorcycles and cars, specifically High-Performance Air Filters and intake systems.
It is worth noting that a significant factor in making this decision was the inability of the dominant air filter manufacturing company at the time to develop technologically advanced and revolutionary designs that would meet the most sophisticated and advanced demands for high performance in motorcycles and cars, better filtration and drivability, as well as longer service intervals and greater fuel economy. The goal was now set. Specifically, DNA® committed itself to designing and manufacturing the most advanced product in the air filter industry: to create the new standard, the best air filter one can get!
Eight months after its founding, DNA began manufacturing its first SKU—the Yamaha TDM 900—at a 500 sqm facility. In 2004, just a year later, DNA won its first world championship with the Yamaha R1 (2004) and the Yamaha GMT94 team, marking the beginning of a legacy. Within three years, the company expanded its dealer network to 20 countries and, with their support, exported to over 50 countries, shipping 600 filters daily.
2007 and 2008 were challenging years, but DNA grew its export network by 10 more countries and pioneered Full Contour Design (FCD), revolutionizing air filter technology. This innovation set DNA apart, elevating the industry standard A new 1,300 sqm facility was established, featuring a state-of-the-art, privately owned airflow lab with certified flow bench testing. Over the next seven years, DNA integrated robotics into production, became an official supplier for Yamaha, Benelli, and KTM, and won its first Red Dot Design Award.
By 2019, DNA had a strong presence in 50+ countries, earning global recognition and respect.
Today, with over 20 years of innovation, 1,000+ unique SKUs, and 1,000,000 filters sold, DNA’s engineers—driven by two Red Dot Design Awards and led by founder & CEO Dino Nikolaidis—continue to develop cutting-edge solutions, blending technology, aesthetics, and performance.
